MILWAUKEE (FRG) -- Cold, grey January days push us indoors to the warmth and comfort of our homes.
Thankfully, warmer days are coming and many will be getting back outside and looking for a memorable outdoor experience in the city.
No better place to get the best of Milwaukee than on the iconic Milwaukee Riverwalk.
This stretch of gorgeous, downtown scenery extends from the Third Ward to Locust Street with areas North of Pleasant Street where you feel like you are in the countryside, not in Wisconsin’s major metropolis.
Spend a day walking up to the top of the river at Locust and stop in at the Colectivo Coffee shop for a restful, relaxing atmosphere with some good food and drink.
Some of the fun in this neighborhood can be found in the variety of eating spots on the river.
A personal favorite of mine is Birch, a restaurant located on the corner of Pleasant and Water. Their new chef Kyle Knall is from New York and has family ties in Milwaukee.
Birch has terrific food and you can get a table or sit up near the bar and watch the chefs create dishes in a wood-fired burning cooktop. The food’s flavors will burst in your mouth!
This experience will round out a neighborhood with numerous opportunities for fun.
Good views and great food - it’s one of my favorites in Milwaukee!
